Ane Christensen’s metalwork explores the subject of illusion and balance.
Ane Christensen grew up in Copenhagen and moved to London in 1993 . Her work begins with the simple geometry of bowl forms and flat sheet. She often includes metal wire, used like three-dimensional line drawing in space. Applying traditional techniques such as hand piercing, drilling and soldering,
"I enjoy working in a variety of metals, combining them in an exploration of colour and texture".
Ane will be exhibiting at Collect as part of FIVE.
FIVE is a collective of UK based silver and metalsmiths. Established in 2021, it brings together five exceptional makers spanning different generations and backgrounds. It was conceived by five contemporary makers all determined to shine a spotlight on the craft of contemporary silversmithing and metalwork. As a small but focused group, they have created a unique opportunity to present a curated concept in metal and show a larger body of work together.
For Collect 2023, FIVE will once again be exhibiting ambitious new silver and fine metalwork and developing a wider interest in the craft. FIVE presents ‘Conversations in Silver and Metal’, a collection of new works in precious and non-precious metals,
What unites the makers is their shared material, their passion for fine craftsmanship and a continuing drive to apply a contemporary language to traditional craft.
