For her summer collection, Marlene McKibbin has made a series of new acrylic jewellery pieces in sunset tones, from deep orange to blush.
Marlene McKibbin has been making jewellery for over three decades, using many different materials. She has championed acrylic as a medium for jewellery, using faceting to bring out the refractive quality of the material. In her acrylic rings, bangles, earrings and pendants, light becomes an integral part of the piece itself, bouncing between the coloured planes of acrylic. Colour is used liberally; jewel tones of amber, cerise and poppy red are applied to the acrylic to emphasise the clean lines of the design. Her work is characterised by fluid, contemporary shapes that make her jewellery endlessly wearable and bring a playful elegance to the everyday.
