The vessel was lacquered with Urushi - a finish which comes from the from the sap of the lacquer tree (toxicodendron vernicifluum). Urushi is a remarkable natural finish that has been used on tableware for centuries, due to its strength and resistance and is famously used on Japanese rice and miso bowls. Product care: Hand wash in warm soapy water and leave to dry over a draining board. Woodenware should not be left to soak and should not go in the dishwasher or the microwave!Exhibitions
