Inspired by walks along the Thames Estuary in Tilbury, where the river meets the sea. The weaving follows an audio recording made during the walk, translating the sound into woven pattern and visually representing the walk's rhythm.
Before weaving, the cone of paper yarn used to create this piece is dipped into a dye bath. This results in random and unexpected colour placement, disrupting the straight lines of the twill pattern. The piece is intended to evoke the big skies of the estuary landscape.
